| About A Sure Sign, Inc. A Sure Sign, Inc. is a non-profit organization the Sacramento area. We are not an interpreter referral agency. Our Purpose: The purpose of A Sure Sign, Inc. is to foster, engage in, and promote the enhancement of services provided to the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing. Toward this end, A Sure Sign, Inc. will undertake the following activities: • coordinate workshops on sign language interpreting, American Sign Language, Deaf culture, linguistics, and other areas of relevance to the service providers of the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing. • develop awareness of Cumulative Trauma Syndrome in the sign language interpreting profession, and promote ergonomic practices, including improvement of working conditions and self advocacy. • develop an information and resource exchange of interpreting training programs, referral agencies, interpreting students, professional interpreters, and other professionals in the field. • increase inclusion of Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing professionals, trainers, and mentors, as resources for service providers in the community. • engage in any other activities that serve to promote and enhance continuing education for sign language professionals. Our Status Now: We are a legally recognized corporation in the state of California. Articles of incorporation have been filed with the Secretary of State and were endorsed effective August 11, 2004. Bylaws have been written and we have five Board of Directors to date: Stacey Ballard, Denise Madland, Mary Pham, Beth Maneely, and Lauren Gill. There are still two vacant seats on the Board of Directors. If you are interested please contact Stacey Ballard promptly at 916-220-0965 or info@asuresign.org. We are pleased to announce that review of our tax exemption status application has been completed and approved. We are now officially exempt under IRS code section 501 (c) (3) with an effective date of August 11, 2004 -- the date of our agency's endorsement by California's Secretary of State.
